What on earth is Geocaching?High-tech treasure hunts with satellites to guide you!
In a nutshell, geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt using hand held GPS (Global Positioning System) units that receive signals from satellites orbiting above us. By receiving these signals, each gps unit can determine its exact location on the earth (geographical coordinates) within 3-5 meters. A “geocache” is an item that we hide specifically for your group and record the geographical coordinates for. The game can be Urban or Wilderness based.
The Game! - Where all the fun begins. We'll meet your group, assign teams, instruct and provide all the equipment necessary to have a fun-filled high-tech outdoor adventure. The hunting part of the game happens when teams are given GPS units pre-programmed with the coordinates of the caches we’ve hidden and they set out to collect as many as the can find. - The Race is ON! A typical geocaching game consists of 12-40 people, organized in to teams of 3-5 members. We usually hide and record 20 caches and there are normally 2-3 facilitators. Each team is provided with a full colour hand held GPS unit, map & case, cache list, clues, game rules, notebook, pens, "cached" flags. A typical game lasts 2-3 hours but can be tailored to a full day. Locations can be fully customized, our pre-arranged packages can be found on the Geocaching dropdown menu by holding your mouse pointer over the Geocaching link on the main menu or by clicking here - Geocaching Locations and Packages |
